The C8 Z06 Destroys the Corvette’s Bad Stereotype | NASTY 670HP V8
This is the C8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06! Under the engine cover is a naturally-aspirated, 5.5L V8 pumping out 670 HP and 460 Lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
10 years ago the Z06 and ZR-1 were similar cars with varying degrees of testosterone. Fast forward, and today their might be room for both of these cars in the same garage. Time will tell.
670 HP in this form, with urgency from the engine to rev and build power on the way to 8,600RPM, is so manageable on the street. It revs lightning quick and makes power everywhere, but somehow everything feels somewhat isolated and cushy on the street for a Z06. Good feel, you just might forget what you’re driving once you hit the freeway.
This is why C5 Z06 values have been holding strong. It’s rough and lightweight, as opposed to the C8 Z06 and ZR1, piling on more power and more weight until they’re tipping the scales towards luxury sedan territory. Is more always better? You tell me.
More revs though? I’ll take it. The engine is unforgettable. It screams. You know those people who like to harken back to the “good ol’ days” of F1? This is for them! Served on a silver platter at a fraction of the price of anything else like it.
Ironic part is, those same people, are the ones saying “Oh but I would never drive an American car”
They might want to finally give the Z06 a fair shot.
